    I found the stereotypes in Figure 2 "The cognitive Map of Aspirations" rather depressing. I thought in this day and age we would have different concepts about equality in occupations. No wonder the students are so confused about where they are heading and the prestige of their occupation choices.

    Reading the cognitive map of aspirations was very depressing. My hope is that this is a very 1980's perspective and that it has somewhat changed since then. The one career that makes me think that this is not the most current model, is the prestige level of journalist. Although still a respected career, I think it wouldn't still sit as high on the ladder for many of the students I currently teach.
